In autumn Altyn-Emel enjoys consistently warm and dry weather. The absence of exhausting heat and rare rainfall make it comfortable to explore the park’s longest routes, such as the Aktau Mountains.
The natural colors of the Dzhungarian Alatau and the slopes of the Altyn-Emel Pass become exceptionally vibrant. The foliage of the ancient turanga (desert poplar) turns a brilliant yellow. These groves, found along the way to the Singing Dune and the Aktau Mountains, are easily recognized from afar by their signature small, heart-shaped leaves. The unique local climate allows for a rare phenomenon — a second blooming of desert plants, adding delicate colors to the autumnal landscape.
Until mid-October, the park usually experiences "summer-like" weather; the true golden autumn typically begins no earlier than the end of the month.
