The lack of heat allows for long treks in the Aktau Mountains and climbs up the Singing Dune without the risk of overheating or heatstroke.
Due to the winds, the Singing Dune often restores its original shape in winter, free of human footprints. Because of low precipitation, the Aktau Mountains are rarely covered in snow, keeping their colorful sedimentary layers clearly visible.
