The village of Basshi where the central office of the park is located, is a quiet village with a charming oriental flavor. Here, cattle roam the streets peacefully, and you can hear purely village sounds: the lowing of cows, the roar of donkeys, the bleating of sheep, the neighing of horses, and in the morning you will certainly be awakened by the cheerful crowing of a rooster. The surroundings of the Basshi village are steppes surrounded by the Dzhungarian mountains.

In the Altyn-Emel National Park you can set up a camp near the ranger's posts (Shygan, Mynbulak, Kosbastau).
The most popular place for camping is at the foot of the Aktau Mountains. Near the Singing Dune any camping is prohibited.
